ESTIMATING THE UNCERTAINTY OF KRIGING ESTIMATES: A PRACTICAL REVIEW AND THE PROPOSAL OF TWO NOVEL-APPROACHES

This paper presents two novel kriging-based methods to measure the uncertainty associated with geostatistical estimates. Both approaches combine Kriging Variance (KV), which is a good summary of spatial configuration data, second component locally measures data dispersion. The first proposed method, referred as Combined Index (CI), merges KV local conditional distribution estimated by median Indicator Kriging. other method named II (CVII) and it an adaptation originally Variance, where equation used merge Interpolation was replaced. are compared available in literature case study using widely known Walker Lake dataset. results indicate that both outperformed tested solutions. CVII index its original formulation all scenarios.
